![]() A large crowd is not required for fellowship. Jesus declares that if only 2 or 3 gather together in His Name, His divine presence is manifested and activated to do what only He can. Christ Himself guarantees His communion with His people and His imparting Himself to them, in the activation of divine Grace, as seen when God leans towards believers to give Himself to us. The “in My name” informs the gathering, as the Name is inseparable from the Person to whom it belongs! Jesus is saying, in effect, “when just a couple of you gather in My Name, I show up in My authority and My power, manifesting, demonstrating and revealing the fullness of My presence.” What is experienced is a divine encounter with Him, resulting in healing, deliverance, freedom, adjustments, shifts in perspective, and in some cases, total overhauls. No one encounters the King and remains the same. In fact, a divine encounter with God always results in divine activation, meaning The Light is turned on (John 1:5)! The oil lamp is fired up! When members of the Body of Christ gather, their fellowship is distinguished from all other gatherings! It is marked by His cause, His name, His character, His reputation, His authority, His nature, and His power! If we add to this the power released in verse 18, and the power of agreement on God’s will in verse 19, every gathering carries with it a divine expectation of a powerful encounter and transformation, ultimately resulting in the advancement of God’s kingdom in the earth, as those gathered leave with clarity of vision, bold courage, and a heart to obey the Lord.
